Cheats v Saints Preview

Incase you don't know what I'm on about, allow me to explain. With 10 minutes left at Love Street, yet another Raith player faked injury for about the billionth time in the game. One of their players put the ball out, but the ref signalled for the player to get up and didn't allow him to get treatment. Saints refused to give the ball back, built up an attack and scored. Raith weren't very pleased, but it's their own fault considering the games against them this season have been plagued by diving, cheating, wrestling and general gamesmanship.

No doubt this will lead to a firey atmosphere for Gus MacPherson's first proper game in charge. Andy Millen of Clyde has been lined up as his assistant, though whether he'll be signed in time to play tomorrow is unknown. MacPherson is beginning to get himself fit again so may be in the squad, but Paul McKnight, Kevin Twaddle, Graham McWilliam and David Jack are all still out. The good news is that John O'Neill and Mark Crilly are back from suspension, however Kirk Broadfoot will be missing as he begins a ban.

Midweek saw Allan Russell and Barry Lavety link together up front in a reserve game against Ayr United. Russell scored, so there is a good chance they will be paired up tomorrow, with Brian McGinty dropping out. Basher really needs to start scoring soon, as half a season has now passed without a goal. Starks park is where his first goal came when we had him back on loan in the title season, so here's hoping for omens.

Raith currently sit below Saints in the table, and we've managed to put some ground between them (and the other relegation hopefuls) over the last few weeks since Gus came in. When Dundee went into administration, they signed the released duo of Jamie Langfield and Beto Carranza. How did a club so much in debt pay for this? Simplem, they chucked an extra two quid on the admission prices!

A win tomorrow would be a great result, as we could still end up fighting for the title, or at least causing some problems, if we cna keep the form going. Hopefully we'll do it, with Basher scoring.
