Ross County v Saints Preview

The number of players missing tomorrow has remained the same, thanks to Simon Lappin replacing Kevin Twaddle on the injury list. The fact Twaddle is fit again is good, as he could play up front to give us some presence. He can also play on the right wing, so may play there instead of Ricky Gillies, and supposedly he can play on the left as well, so would be a straight swap with Lappin, who has a knee injury of somesort. Wherether he plays, the news that Twaddle is fit is good news. Whether he'll start or appear on the bench is unknown, but he should make his Saints debut at some point.

Hugh Murray and David Jack are still injured long term, whilst Eddie Annand could well return for next week's match against his former club Clyde. Barry Lavety is unfortunately still a week or so away from fitness, whilst former Rangers duo Paul McKnight and Brian McGinty are still missing through injury. This will once more leave us with Allan Russell and Robert Dunn up front, neither of whom have scored for Saints yet, unless of course Twaddle starts up front.

Mark Dempsie should now be near enough fit so may start in place of Kirk Broadfoot, although Saints boss John Coughlin may wish to go with the same defensive lineup which saw us take a point off of St. Johnstone last week. This means Stevie Woods will have to wait a wee while longer to replace the impressive Craig Hinchcliffe in the Saints goal.

Ross County seem to have turned into Dundee United rejects over the last 12 months or so, thanks to the appointment of former United boss Alex Smith. In have come the likes of Jim Hamilton, David Winters and Jamie McCunnie, and to be honest I wouldn't mind either of McCunnie or Hamilton playing for Saints, especially the latter with the current problems up front. County aso have former Saints striker Steven McGarry.

Victory tomorrow is vital if we want to win the league, as the overall champions will go to places like Dingwall and Ayr and win these games, possibly in comfort. However, with the poor options up front, I see Saints managing a draw at best, with John O'Neill no doubt scoring for Saints.
