The officials called the strike on Sunday night after being fed up with the abuse they had been taking in recent weeks. Most folk assumed it was just posturing and it would be called off, but it was confirmed today the strike would go ahead.
The SFA had had trouble finding refs to take the game, with requests to officials in places as exotic as Wales, Holland and Iceland all knocked back. However, now they have found enough officials to ensure the six SPL matches can go ahead, as well as three Scottish Cup replays and the MG ALBA Challenge Cup.
Sadly, they could only find one team of officials for the 10 SFL games, so they drew lots to decide which match should go ahead. The winner was Morton v Falkirk - about the only thing both teams are likely to win for some time.
