The news comes from the BBC website. Van Zanten played against Saints for the Sun Select XI, then played for Saints against East Stirlingshire and Gretna. He is an Irish right back who has previously played with Celtic, and has done well in all three games.
Annand has only played around an hour of football for Saints, against Gretna on Wednesday. He went off injured, but had managed to score before then. We desperately need a striker and he would fit the bill, despite the fact he was at Morton.
Meanwhile, Saints boss John Coughlin last night said that Barry Lavety would need to tell him if he wanted to stay. Basher scored once and set up two against Gretna, but Coughlin said he wouldn't be pressured by the fans into signing Lavety, who is set to return to Bath university in the summer. Newspaper reports today suggest Saints are going to try again to get him to leave uni and return home. Here's hoping!
