The news about Bahoken is hardly a surprise, instead merely confirmation about what has been rumoured for weeks. The Frenchman, who joined the club on loan from Nice in August, hadn't been seen in the first team squad since we beat Partick Thistle in November and had stopped appearing for the under-21s. It has been suggested he had gone home for the November international break and didn't come back.
Cornell's departure isn't a huge shock either. The goalie was handed the number one shirt after being borrowed from Swansea in the summer but looked rather shaky, making some costly mistakes against Queen of the South and Motherwell. He was dropped after the latter in mid September and has only played as a sub since, Christopher Dilo taking over at first before Marian Kello was brought in.
During his time with Saints, Bahoken - who is pals with League Cup hero Esmael Goncalves - made just two starts and two sub appearances, scoring no goals. Cornell fared a little better with six starts. Neither covered themselves in glory, although in fairness they were playing when we were struggling badly and they didn't get a look in after we changed system and improved our form.
Their departures - expected to be confirmed soon - mean the only loan players we have left are Blackpool's Jake Caprice, who has barely been used, and Newcastle's Conor Newton. The latter is only on loan until January and could end up in the English Championship, but if he decides to stick around it is looking likely he'll be joined by his team-mate Adam Campbell.
