Sergei Baltacha is staying at St. Mirren after Southampton decided they do not want to follow up their interest in him, reports TeamTalk.
Gordon Strachan had taken Baltacha down south on trials twice within the last month, but after seeing him in a reserve game against Arsenal he decided he did not want to add the Ukrainian born Scot to his player pool.
This is a blow for both Baltacha and St. Mirren. Baltacha as it means he does not get to play Premiership football, and Saints as it means no sign of the reported £200,000 transfer fee. This could possibly have meant less players leaving in the summer.
