Barron, who has yet to feature this season due to injury, was originally offered a new deal back in August, but this was rejected. Negotiations resumed a few weeks ago and manager Danny Lennon was hopeful an agreement would be reached. However, Barron has rejected this latest offer and the club have revealed there will be no more dicussions.
This is a blow as Barron was one of our best players last season and would have played a huge part in the club's future. Quite what level he thinks he can play at in England is anyone's guess as while he's good for us, I can't see him being anything more than a decent League One player at the moment. Sadly, these days that means he'd still be earning more money than if he stayed in the SPL.
Saints had a similar situation last season when Stephen McGinn turned down a new offer. The midfielder was eventually sold to Watford in January - could Barron also be sold in the winter transfer window?
