Birchall Goes Home

The Trinidad and Tobago international was substituted just five minutes after setting up Billy Mehmet's goal on Saturday due to injury. Such is the extent of the damage that he is extremely unlikely to play football in the next month and, with his loan deal ending on January 2, it was decided to let Birchall return to his proper club - who are in the process of entering administration and possibly losing their manager. Good luck Chris!
Birchall was a signing most Saints fans had high hopes for but, as like many before him, failed to deliver. His departure means we'll probably be seeing Alan Reid or Garry Brady playing wide right. Great.
