The story, in today's Daily Record, says they have been recommended to Livingston by former Saints manager Tony Fitzpatrick, who is now working in the youth system at Livingston. This is a bit strange considering O'Brien played hardly any first team games whilst Fitzpatrick was in charge, before being a regular when Tom Hendrie took over.
O'Brien has made just one sub appearance for Blackburn since his move in 1999, whilst McNamee hasn't played at all. O'Brien has been linked with clubs such as Crewe and Dundee United, but McNamee has seemed content to stay put. Should one of them start a league game (haha) for Blackburn, Saints would get a fair amount of money, £300,000 if my memory serves me correctly. Don't see it happening and I don't think there is that great a sell on fee.
The main issue to be adressed here however is what are Livingston doing trying to sign a Scottish player?
