This is great news for Saints, as Kirk has been in superb form this season, putting behind him his court room troubles. It can only be a matter of time until Kirk makes his way into the Scotland under 21 squad.
Broadfoot arrived at Love Street in the summer of 2002 from Hibs, being signed up after impressing as a trialist. He did well in his first season playing in defence, before being moved to midfield by John Coughlin at the start of the 2003/04 season. He won the young player of the month award, but when Coughlin went he was shifted back into defence where he has been starring ever since.
Kirk is one of only two players with a contract past the end of this season, the other being right back David Van Zanten who has a contract until the summer of 2006.
