The news came on yesterday's edition of Scotsport First, when "journalist" David McKinney suggested that Kirk could be on his way in the summer and that was why we were signing some new defenders. Normally I'd have dismissed this as McKinney rubbish, except Saints fan and Scottish Sun journalist Bill Leckie revealed he had heard rumours that a few English clubs were interested in the former Hibs defender.
If Broadfoot was to move in the summer this would be terrible news for the club. The big defender was been fantastic this season, shrugging off an assault conviction by winning a call up to the Scotland under 21 squad. He scored a few goals along the way and entertained the Saints fans with stepovers, though he got into a spot of bother for standing on the ball against St. Johnstone.
Rumours in the past have suggested that newly promoted Falkirk want the defender and now there is alleged interest from Blackpool. Whatever happens they'll need to pay big as we have no reason to sell him due to the financial aspects of the ground move.
Let's hope this story is just more McKinney nonsense.
