There had been rumours that both players would be called up to the squad for a few weeks, having both represented the Scotland under 21 side in the past few weeks.
The pair had been on an initial list of 30 that Scotland manager Walter Smith would then cut to 18. Whilst Broadfoot successfully made it, midfielder Lappin didn't. Former Saint Charlie Adam also made the grade.
