When the former Celtic and Wolves defender signed back in February, it was initially only until the end of the season. There was, however, an option for the deal to be extended for another year. There has been much debate on the web in recent weeks about what was actually happening with Camara - and now we know. The clause in his contract could be invoked by him, rather than the club, and he's decided he wants to stay.
Ignoring the fact it's Camara we're talking about, this was a pretty silly way to do business. In the current financial climate, any player who has a contract option of another year with a club will grab it rather than take his chances on the open market.
There's little positive that can be said about Mo's contributions over the last few months. He was hooked three times to be replaced with David Barron - a rightback who looked a far better player in that position than Camara. He was a bombscare and, along with John Potter, must have entertained most of the opposition strikers and supporters. Still, he has come closer to scoring a free-kick than most of our squad has in the last three years, so that's something I suppose!
With Saints boss Gus MacPherson still looking to bring Franco Miranda back to the club, it will be interesting to see just how big a part of his plans Camara is.
