The midfielder had missed the last Scotland game but returned to the squad for the match at Greenhill Road. He was only on the bench, a bit frustrating when Old Firm reserves (or guys playing in League One) get starts. However, as we have a game tomorrow and most other clubs don't it may be there was an agreement between Saints boss Danny Lennon and under-21 gaffer Billy Stark that McLean was to be used sparingly.
He arrived with just over half an hour to go when the young Scots were trailing 1-0 and they salvaged a point late on when Hearts' Callum Paterson scored with an overhead kick.
