The 20-year-old, who can also play on the wing and even up front, has been borrowed from the Seasiders until the end of the season after impressing during a trial spell in Paisley. He's yet to feature for the English Championship club, although did have a loan spell at Dagenham and Redbridge last season.
Saints boss Danny Lennon had been hoping to have a French-based striker secured in time for tonight but there's been a hitch and the deal has been delayed. Estonian striker Artur Rattel, who had also been on trial, will not be offered a deal.
