The defender was quoted in a number of today's papers saying an offer was on the table and he hoped to have things sorted out soon - although few people expected it to be this soon! The lifelong Buddie will now be at the club until the summer of 2015.
McAusland has improved this season and while he still has the odd shaky game he has looked a lot more solid playing alongside Jim Goodwin. Hopefully his performances have been enough to show he isn't getting a game just because dad Bryan is a director.
Cheesy came through the youth system at Saints and made his debut five years ago. He left for Queen of the South in 2009 - missing the last League Cup Final - but was brought back a year later by new boss Danny Lennon. He seems to average a goal a season but his highlight so far surely has to be crossing for Steven Thompson's winner in January's semi-final against Celtic. Fingers crossed he tops that moment on Sunday.
It's not been such a good day for another youth set-up graduate. After loan spells at Ayr United and East Stirlingshire in the last few years Jamie McKernon has been released after just two first team appearances.
Lennon is obviously wasting no time shaping his squad for next season and hopefully a few other players will sign contract extensions in the next few weeks, with Paul McGowan - who has repeatedly been linked with a move down south - hinting he may be willing to stay.
