Both Provost Ronnie Burns and SNP councillor Jim Mitchell feel there should be some sort of event to mark the occasion. Whether this would involve an open top bus tour through Paisley followed by the trophy being paraded at the town hall I don't know, but I'd doubt it as I don't see many people turning up for that on a cold day in November!
Jim Mitchell said: "St. Mirren's achievment has brought great pride and honour to Paisley and Renfrewshire and it is only fitting that we salute the team by holding a civic reception."
Provost Burns was at the game on Sunday and said: "I actually mentioned to some of the representatives from other clubs that this achievement merited a civic reception.
"Obviously that would have to be agreed by the Council, but I’m more than happy to lend my support to that."
I wonder what those people who voted against the planning proposals in May are thinking now? If you're out there, let me know. I won't hold my breath.
