According to today's Daily Express, the consortium would get their money from Maxi Group, an Ayrshire company who have haulage and property divisions. Apparently, they;d be willing to provide around £2million to complete the deal.
If it went ahead, fans and the community would have more of a say in things at the club while things like community coaching academies would be developed. Becoming more community-involved would also open up the possibility of grants from various places, like the government and the National Lottery.
The plan is for the club to become self funding and provide Gus MacPherson, or whoever the manager is, with a bigger playing budget. Supposedly, this consortium held talks with Stewart Gilmour and the rest of the board at the turn of the year but didn't make a big, while other interested parties are also monitoring the situation.
Sounds interesting, although I do get suspicious as soon as a property group starts showing an interest in a football club these days.
