Crilly was signed in the summer of 2003 from Stirling Albion, and Saints chairman Stewart Gilmour informed us a few days earlier we'd be signing someone of calibre and it would be a shock. Well, I was shocked as I expected someone who had been at better clubs than Ayr United, Dumbarton and Stirling (with all due respect to this clubs).
Crilly came to us with a bit of a reputation for being hotheaded, but started OK and scored on his debut. He looked a real find, but went slowly down hill. He was sent off against Queen of the South, and didn't feature much after that. He did notch another goal against Brechin, but apart from that was useless. There were rumours towards the end of the season that he wanted out, but these were denied by both the club and the player.
He did play against Ross County in the league challenge cup a few weeks ago, but hasn't played since. However, with just three games gone it's pathetic that he feels he needs to move on already. No doubt he's played his last game for us.
