Hasselbaink has managed seven goals since arriving from Hamilton in the summer and has become a fans' favourite. The Dutchman has both pace and strength and while he has struggled at times thats understandable with a 21-year-old - especially one that's living in a foreign country.
Lennon has already hinted at his desire to get Hasselbaink's countryman Jeroen Tesselaar to sign a new deal and has now revealed he's planning to get Nigel to stay at the same time. He said: "Tesselaar's agent is coming over for talks next week. I've already spoken to Jeroen, but he's more comfortable with his agent as the buffer. The same agent represents Nigel and hopefully we'll get both players tied up."
But Lennon isn't resting on his laurels and is already looking for another striker - even though former MK Dons frontman Lewis Guy will be joining in the summer. He added: "We've got Lewis Guy in and I am hoping that within the next two weeks I will open up talks with one in particular; he is a striker and is based in Scotland at the moment."
