Shuggy is now in his 11th season with the club - despite only being 28 - and has been enjoying his testimonial year for the past 12 months or so. The match will mark the culmination of that, and hopefully the fact Premiership opposition are coming will ensure a big turn out.
Hugh is the only Saints player ever to win three trophies - two first division titles and the Bells Cup - and is the only member of the squad who played in the SPL last time round in 2000/01. His most famous Saints moment to date came against Stirling Albion in May 1998, when his strike kept Saints in the first division and in business.
The game will mark a return to Paisley for Rams boss Billy Davies, who started his career at Love Street. Other Scottish experts to Pride Park include Stephen Pearson, Gary Teale and Bob Malcolm, while striker Rob Earnshaw had a spell on loan with Morton a few years back. How many of Derby's "big" names will be available is unclear, as the game is just before an international weekend.
The match will kick off at 7.45pm on Thursday, September 8. Tickets can be bought from the ground from this Wednesday and cost £15 for adults and £5 for kids. Hopefully a good crowd will turnout and give Shuggy the tribute he deserves.
