Mr Scott tabled his resignation at a board meeting today. What has forced him to take this course of action is not clear. It could be to do with the team, the club's ownership or simply the fact he's had enough. We just don't know, but he is set to issue a statement tomorrow.
The club have already beaten him to that one by posting a message on the club website saying he has gone. There are suggestions he had three bids for the shares that are for sale turned down and he has grown increasingly frustrated about the running of the club. The fact the current board issued their statement without any comment from him suggests there is some sort of rift.
Mr Scott joined the board in 2003 on the same day Gus MacPherson was appointed as manager. He is a Saints fan and provided some handy inside info to Saints fans on the web, as well as overseeing the club's stadium move and the development of the training complex.
His departure is a bit of a shock and it'll be interesting to see what happens in the near future. Remember, when Stewart Gilmour took over the club, his first step was resigning from the board...
