Saints beat East Stirlingshire 7-0 last August in the league challenge cup. The lineup that day was: Roy, McGowan, Robb, Ross, Baltacha, Guy, Lappin, Dow, McGinty, Cameron with McKenzie, Yardley, Kerr Rudden and Robertson on the bench. Amazingly, only 10 months on, only Lappin, Gillies and McGinty remain, although we still have Robb who is on loan at Gretna. In have come the likes of Craig Hinchcliffe, Robert Dunn and Gus MacPherson, as well as former Saints Paul McKnight and Kevin McGowne returning. No wonder, with such a turnaround from the team that did so poorly last season, are the fans looking forward to this game with increasing enthusiasm.
Hugh Murray, Mark Dempsie and David Jakc are all set to miss out, whilst trialists could include David van Zanten and former Motherwell striker Darren Jack. The trialists will learn their fate after the game.
East Stirling failed to win any home games last season, so this should be an easy win for Saints. Anything other than victory is unacceptable.
