Flannery played in a trial game against Hearts that year, and didn't do anything of note, apart from annoy Mark Yardley on his first day by hanging his stuff on the big mans peg! However, Flannery continually scores goals in the 3rd Division and has helped Dumbarton into a possible promotion spot, being 2 points clear of 3rd with 1 game remaining.
The problem if the rumours are true, they were reported on TeamTalk so god knows if they are, is money. To my knowledge Flannery isn't out of contract, though I remember him signing a new deal with Dumbarton when the new stadium opened, two years ago. It's possible Flannery is out of contract and we could pick him up for nothing. If he isn,t there is no way we could get him without a swap deal. If money is wanted, no chance. Flannery may prefer to try and have a crack at the second division with Dumbarton instead of coming to the first, basically because he has been with them for a wee while.
If Flannery was signed in time, he could benefit from an exciting new training method at Love Street over the close season. A sprinting specialist is being brought in to try and give all the players AT LEAST an extra 10% to their speed. He's coming to this Saturday's game to see what he has to work with, so thank goodness Yards is injured! Actually maybe not, Yardley may be easy to improve as just getting him to run would be an improvement ;)
Oh and ignore the picture with this article, its from Stirling 1998, I was testing the picture stuff and now can't get it off!
