The striker, who scored a number of imporant goals during his five years at Saints, has had a bit of a rough time since he left Paisley last summer. He had spells at two Turkish clubs but seemed to be messed about a bit over wages. He was apparently close to signing for Hearts before Jim Jefferies got the sack, then went on trial in New Zealand before signing for Perth Glory.
Mehmet will not feel alone down under. Glory are managed by Ian Ferguson, whose goal won Saints the 1987 Scottish Cup, while Millennium Champion Steven McGarry is also part of the squad.
