This is a fine piece of business by manager Gus MacPherson. With Chris Smith injured, we were in desperate need of a new goalkeeper - preferably an experienced one due to Mark Howard's young age. Gallacher fits the bill perfectly. He has been capped for Scotland and has played for Dundee United and Norwich, as well as Dunfermline.
Gallacher will be 30 in August so is pretty much ideal for our needs, although it'll be interesting to see what happens when all three of our keepers are fully fit. Chances are that Gallacher will be the number one keeper, with the other two trying their best to unseat him.
Dunfermline had been looking for a fee for Gallacher, although there is no official confirmation if one was paid. He was one of the Pars highest earners and they were keen to get rid of him, so it's interesting we've signed him considering the reasons for Gary Mason and Will Haining not being given new deals last week!
