Lennon said earlier this week that he was looking to sign a new player before Saturday's game with Peterhead and it seems it was Goodwin he was talking about. The 29-year-old had been offered a new contract by Hamilton, but has decided to join Saints. The fact he has left New Douglas Park has provoked anger from Accies fans - surely a good thing!
Goodwin, who only signed for Hamilton in the summer, is a holding midfielder who can also play on the right if required. He started his career at Celtic and has also had spells at Stockport, Huddersfield, Oldham and Scunthorpe.
As we need a striker and a defender I'd have thought another holding midfielder was the last thing we needed. However, with rumours that Hugh Murray is set to leave, it may not be a bad move. Let's just hope it's not the last piece of transfer business this month.
