So far this month we have signed two players - Gregg Wylde and Adam Campbell. Out have gone Jake Caprice, David Barron, Gary Harkins and Lee Mair, while the departure of David Cornell has been offset by Marian Kello extending his deal to the end of the season. So, that's two in and four out (plus Stephane Bahoken has come back).
However, rather than becoming three in, it seems it may soon be five out instead. Grainger, who only signed in the summer, is apparently being allowed to go if he can find himself a new club before Friday's transfer deadline. The defender was released by Hearts in the summer after missing most of last season through injury, ending up at Saints after a trial spell.
He started the season at leftback before being sent off against Hibs and has since been kept out of the team by Sean Kelly. However, while the youngster seems to be the preferred option we need cover if he gets an injury or suspension or loses form - something we wouldn't have if Grainger is allowed to go.
Our squad was hardly packed before this month but it is in the process of becoming noticeable threadbare.
