Haining was let go by Saints when his contract expired at the end of July. manager Gus MacPherson stated that no offer was made due to the problems with Setanta, but it seems there were behind the scenes issues involving the former Oldham man.
The centre half did spend time training with his former club before his Blackpool trial, so it's perhaps a surprise to see him end up at a side in League Two. He could easily play at a higher level and should be a good signing for Sammy McIlroy's men.
