Only three players who were part of the first team at that time are still with us; Ricky Gillies, Hugh Murray and Barry Lavety. Ricky was on loan from Aberdeen at the time, but the move was made permanent that summer. Shuggy left in the summer of 2002 but returned a few months later, whilst Basher left a few weeks after that game to return after last summer.
Some players have gone on to play at a higher level, like Barry McLaughlin and Ian Ross, some have had to drop down to stay in football, like Mark Yardley and Chris Kerr, whilst the likes of Gary Bowman don't even play anymore. Others, such as Junior Mendes and Scott Walker, are now playing down south.
It was a fantastic day, one I wouldn't have missed for the world. It's the only time I've seen Saints win a trophy, and at present is the best day of my life.
