The injury happened early in the second half when visiting goalie Ben Williams landed on McGregor's knee. After receiving treatment he had to be stretchered off and, following today's scan, it has been revealed the injury is as serious as first thought.
Darren suffered a similar injury to his other knee in the third game of last season and it is cruel that lightning should strike twice like this. Having completed the road to recovery he must now go through it all again. Last season he was out for the best part of eight months and while no timescale has publicly been put on his absence, former Saint Gareth Wardlaw has indicated on Twitter that his ex team mate's season may be awful.
This would be terrible news for any footballer, let alone one that has just gone through a similar hell. All we can say now is get well soon.
