The two teams were due to meet at Tynecastle in the first weekend in February, however the game was postponed as Hearts are playing in the League Cup semi-finals that weekend. As a result we're playing Celtic instead, but until today there was no news of when we'd play the Jambos.
The fact the game has been arranged with little more than a week's notice is a little odd, but is almost certainly to do with the fact Ryan Stevenson has a two game ban after being sent off in Hearts' draw with St Johnstone on Saturday. The midfielder - who has been linked with a move to ourselves - will now sit out next Wednesday's game, but will be available for the semi-final. Funny that.
I have mixed feelings about this. Hearts didn't move a game to a Sunday after we had to play a Scottish Cup replay on a Thursday night for Sky back in 2009, so why should we help them out now? And if I was a Caley Thistle fan - the Jambos' semi-final opponents - I'd be livid.
However, the flip side is Hearts' youngsters will be even more tired for the cup game and we get to play a team missing Stevenson, Rudi Skacel and whoever else they were planning to sign.
Let's just hope we don't mess it up!
