Higdon seals Motherwell switch

Last updated : 03 June 2011 By Stuart Gillespie

It's no surprise that Higdon has gone. His form towards the end of last season made it almost certain he'd be away and he still hadn't responded to the offer of a new contract yesterday. Personally, I thought he'd go down south for more money but he's now gone to Motherwell, where he will replace former Saint John Sutton.

After signing from Falkirk in 2009, Higdon had a mixed first season but upped things last year. His form towards the end of the season was superb and his hat-trick against Hamilton was the first ever by a Saints player in the SPL. Although at times he could appear lazy, you can't argue with his goal tally.

There's no question Higdon will be missed, however we've known for some time he'd probably be away so the earch for a replacement should be quite far on.
