Higdon is pretty much a direct replacement for Jim Hamilton. He's about the same size, has a similar hairstyle and is younger, fitter, probably a bit better and perhaps slightly more expensive. A tally of 17 goals in two seasons for Falkirk is hardly impressive. However, only Andy Dorman and Billy Mehmet have come close to doing that for us in the past two years, so maybe he isn't that bad.
The 25-year-old started his career with Crewe Alexandra before joining the Bairns two years ago. During his time at Westfield he played in the Scottish Cup Final and scored the goal that kept them in the SPL last season. However, Falkirk fans seem quite happy to see the back of him, which is a bit of a worry. His arrival at St. Mirren Park has been rumoured on messageboards for weeks, so it was no surprise when his signing was announced today.
If Higdon stays fit and we get decent service to him (which would involve having a couple of good, fit wingers) he could turn out to be a decent signing. However, we could still do with another striker. And a couple of centre halves. And a leftback. And a right winger...
