The news has been rumoured for some time and won't come as a surprise to most people. It would appear that Tesco - who are financing the new ground in Ferguslie Park - merely bought Love Street to stop any of their competitors getting it.
Tesco now want to build one of their "Extra" stores on Paisley's Renfrew Road and if they get planning permission for that, they'll then sell our ground for housing. It's probably not the best time to be doing that with the credit crunch, but whatever loss they make will be a drop in the ocean for a company like Tesco. The whole process could take a while, meaning Love Street could still be standing some time after our final game.
It is unlikely Tesco's decision will affect their deal with Saints.
