Rangers, Nottingham Forest and Derby County were just some of the clubs who were supposed to be interested in the former Arsenal youngster, but he decided today to stay at Saints. The keeper has been a regular for the club this season, although was mysteriously dropped after he rejected a previous contract offer. However, Chris Smith's long term injury means that Howard, who has also played for Falkirk and Cardiff, is set to be the club's number one for the foreseeable future.
Howard's form has been a bit dodgy at times, but he has put in a number of decent performances so it's good to see him agree to stay - especially as we don't know what division we'll be in next season.
