Iwelumo Transfer Listed

Iwelumo hasn't been playing due to the fact Stoke have other strikers ahead of him in the pecking order. Big Chris has been their top scorer for the last two seasons but is out of the team this year. One of the strikers ahead of him is Ade Akinbyi, which is a bit like being kept out of a side by Emile Heskey and must be pretty embarassing.

Iwelumo left Saints in the summer of 1998 and moved to a Danish club before returning to Britain and signing for Stoke. He was punted out on loan various times before helping Stoke to promotion, via the playoffs, in 01/02. He then helped them stay up last season and scored a couple in the FA Cup. Seems a bit strange not playing your top scorer of the last two seasons, but Akinbyi is obviously better ;-)

Saints couldn't afford a permanent transfer, but perhaps we could take him on loan with Saints paying his wages. Whether it would be worthwhile is another matter...
