The former AZ Alkmaar and Telstar man has been on trial at Saints for the last few weeks, starting friendlies against Queen's Park and Ayr before coming on in last night's win over Dumbarton. Manager Danny Lennon has been sufficiently impressed with Tessalaar and now plans to use him to fill the slot vacated by Jure Travner.
There is one potential catch. While everything is agreed, the deal cannot go ahead until the Dutch FA give their approval. There was a suggestion one of his former clubs, possibly Telstar, may need to give the deal their approval. That makes you wonder if he's available.
Hopefully it won't end up like the Roy Dayan situation. The Israeli was on trial at Saints four years ago and had done enough to earn himself a contract offer - only for it to emerge he still had a club!
Meanwhile, it seems Tessalaar may not be the only arrival this week. Experienced coach Tommy Craig has been lined up to take the assistant managers role vacated by Iain Jenkins on Monday. So much for the club not being in a rush to replace him...
There is no news on Tessalaar's fellow trialist Craig Sutherland, who didn't feature in last night's match.
