There has been much anger among Scottish football fans about the ridiculous idea to change the current 12-10 format of the top two leagues to 10-12. Despite almost universal condemnation for this idea, Doncaster persists with it - and is even in the press today claiming it will boost crowds.
Saints have always favoured a 14 team league over a 10, but indications were they were willing to vote for a 10 team league and change rather than the status quo.
However, according to media reports today, we are one of three clubs willing to vote against the proposals. Why we weren't going to do that from the start is a mystery, but fair play to whoever changed their mind.
The vote on the plans was due to take place in April and it needed two teams to vote against the idea for it to fall apart. So, with three clubs set to say no, you'd have thought it was off the agenda?
Er, no. Because, in a piece of democratic action Robert Mugabe would be proud of, Doncaster has decided to delay the vote until everyone is ready to play ball and provide the result he wants.
As a columnist in the Saints-friendly Daily Mail would say, you couldn't make it up.
