It was Kean's first start since Saints played Dunfermline back in September, when he had to go off just before half-time with a thigh knock. On Saturday, the injury re-occured and he was subbed almost immediately. It came at the worst possible time, as Kean had scored two goals and could well have had a hat trick.
It is likely the frontman will be out for four to six weeks at least. With Iain Anderson and Billy Mehmet also injured - and Craig Molloy picking up a problem during yesterday's reserve game against Aberdeen - Saints are in a bit of an injury crisis, especially up front.
There's every chance that Alex Burke could be handed his first start of the season against former club Kilmarnock on Saturday, with Mark Corcoran - who looks set to leave in January - making it onto the bench.
