The players in question are Alan Combe, Derek Scrimgour and Scott Strang. We'll start with Scrimmy first.
The useless one has been released by Queens Park. Thats when you know it's time to chuck it, when an mateur side tells you to sod off. I remember reading in April that the Queens manager thought Scrimmy had cost them 15 points! It looks like the end for the goalie who was so bad he was once substituted despite not being injured.
Judging by reports, even Scott Strang was better than Scrimmy, though not much. Strang played for Saints as a trialist against Ross County when our normal keepers were injured. We lost 4-1, which kinda suggestes he isn't very good, though he once played for Hearts. He also helped Renfrew to win the junior cup in 20001, and it's a return to there he is being linked with.
Combe, meanwhile, is being tipped with a return back to Scotland, having spent the last few years with English side Bradford City. One of his old managers from Bradford, Jim Jeffries, is the Kilmarnock manager, so the move makes sense. In my opinion, it was a fine performance from Combe against Stirling that kept us in division one in 1998, although I'm maybe overplaying that a bit considering we'd had Scrimmy in goals for the few weeks prior to that.
So, two on the move and one released. Interesting time to be a former Saints keeper.
