The news appears in The Herald today, and reports that former Saints player, and Millwall reserve team manager, Joe McLaughlin was watching from the standsm as was Blackburn scout Alex McEwan.
Blackburn signed BurtonO'Brien and David McNamee from Saints around four years ago, and neither made a first team start before being sold to Livvy at the start of the season. Lappin is out of contract at the end of the season, however as he is under 24 we would be due compensation. As Stirling Albion only received £50k from Everton for their goalkeeper after it went to tribunal, that doesn't look good. If Saints can get Lappin on a long term deal then its good news. If he was to go, please, please, PLEASE don't let it be a deal where we get money if he starts. We never got any from Blackburn for O'Brien or McNamee. The scouts will have a great chance to watch Lappin under pressure on Saturday, as Saints play Celtic at Parkhead.
If Lappin does go, and with Andy Dow also set to leave, we'll suddenly go from having loads of left sided midfielders, to none! Chris Kerr, Greig Denham and David lowing are all defensive players, although Kerr could play in midfield if needed. If Lappin were to go to Millwall, he may join up with former Saint Sergei Baltacha, who is currently on trial at the New Den.
