Lennon (Danny, not Neil) is the current Cowdenbeath manager and has led them to back-to-back promotions, although the picture is a little skewed. They only went up to the second division last year thanks to Livingston's antics, but arguably that makes their promotion to the first division last month even more remarkable. They only knew a few days before the season they'd be playing higher league and the target must have been to avoid the drop. To go up is just incredible, especially given their financial situation, and must surely mark Lennon out as a star for the future.
It seems the former Raith Rovers, Hibs and Partick Thistle midfielder was interviewed for the job yesterday - a bit surprising considering the Saints board had indicated their could have been an appointment yesterday. This would suggest there have been problems with a previous candidate, and there are rumours that Willie McStay has turned the job down to stay at Celtic - or the Saints board are tired of waiting for an answer from him.
Lennon would be an interesting appointment, but he'd also be a huge gamble. He only has a couple of years of managerial experience and hasn't managed at a level higher than the second division. However, previous Cowdenbeath bosses Craig Levein and Mixu Paatelainen have been superb when they moved up to the top flight.
An announcement is expected in the next few days and, if you believe the messageboards, it's aready been confirmed it'll be Lennon. Or McStay. Or Stuart Balmer. So expect it to go to Tommy Wilson!
