Lennon lines up strikers

Rumours about Thompson, who has played for Dundee United, Rangers, Cardiff and Burnley, coming to Paisley pop up at every single transfer window as he is a Saints fan. After we tried - and failed - to sign him in January, it seems there may be some truth in this one. He was let go by Burnley yesterday and the Championship side's website said they believe he is heading back to Scotland.

Speculation about Thompson has increased in recent weeks, with a number of people claiming he will sign if we stay up. Even Chick Young implied this would be the case, so it must be true! If the striker isn't after huge wages it's possible, but if someone like Hibs or Aberdeen comes in he'd probably end up there.

McAllister has spent the last two years in the second division with Brechin and has scored over 50 goals in that time, which is a terrific achievement. However, he started off his career with Inverness Caley Thistle in the SPL and wasn't very good, so it remains to be seen if he could cut it in the top flight. There are a number of other clubs after him and anyone looking to sign him would have to make a big offer as he has a decent job outside football.

In my view both would be decent signings, but I won't be too concerned if we don't get them. It's worth noting these rumours come from the Daily Express/Daily Star, which has been surprisingly accurate for Saints stories in recent years.
