Magennis was linked with a move to Saints last week and the Northern Irish international has now signed on loan - the Dons denying Danny Lennon in his attempts to sign him permanently.
The former Cardiff City striker doesn't have the best of scoring records, having managed just 12 in three and a half years at Pittodrie. However, he has a bit of height and pace and can also play at rightback, so is a versatile player to have in the squad.
I'll be honest, I've never really rated Magennis but he looks like a terrific signing when you consider we were seriously considering giving Novo a contract. News of a possible contract for the Spaniard emerged last night and was letter confirmed by Lennon, who said the former Raith Rovers and Rangers frontman would be invited in for training. As he is without a club, there was no need to get him signed up before tomorrow's transfer deadline.
There was a huge backlash from Saints fans and at one point #notonovo was even trending on Twitter! There have been some unsavoury off the pitch incidents with Novo in recent years, but there is also the fact he's not very good - Morton having binned him recently because he was no use.
Thankfully, this morning someone has seen sense and pulled the plug on the deal. Magennis may end up being the last of the signings, but there are rumours we're still looking to bring in a much needed centre half.
