Eriksson has recently been given a director of football role by County's new owners and plans to take them into the Premiership within five years. To do that, he'll have to make a number of signings and has offered Mason a contract.
Mason has already spent time down south, having played for both Manchester City and Hartlepool United before joining Dunfermline in 2000. He joined Saints two years ago and had a good first season before a mixed second term. He was offered a new deal by the club but it was withdrawn after the collapse of Setanta.
