McAusland appeal fails

The defender was sent off early in the second half for what the officials felt was denying Dale Carrick a clear goalscoring opportunity. To make matters worse, they gave a penalty from which Jamie Hamil scored the winning goal.

Saints boss Danny Lennon was furious afterwards, believing it wasn't a penalty and any foul had been committed outside the box. As a result Saints appealed, meaning McAusland could play against Celtic on Sunday.

The appeal was heard today and has stuck with the original decision. From the footage I reckon it's not outside the box but it's hard to tell how much contact there was so it's no surprise the appeal failed.

Cheesy will be free to play in Sunday's Scottish Cup match againast Dundee United but will have to sit out the following week's league game against Aberdeen. Wonder who'll play in defence then...
