We were all worried about losing Kenny McLean in the January transfer window but it seems it might be another midfielder who is on his way. McGowan has been terrific since he returned from injury at the end of December and it's no surprise to see other clubs interested in him, with Leeds, Charlton and Sheffield Wednesday reported to be leading the chase.
Losing the talented playmaker - who was linked with a move to Crystal Palace last season - would be a huge blow, especially with a cup final coming up. McGowan's contract is due to expire in the summer and he's expected to leave on a free, but would the club be tempted to cash in on him now?
Hopefully not - partly because a large chunk of any fee is due to be paid to old club Celtic. £100,000 is the fee being rumoured in today's papers and that is surely not enough to force our hand, especially with lots of extra income expected from our cup run. Besides, surely the player himself would rather stick around and win a trophy before he heads for the Championship?
