McGregor had been accused of punching another person in the face Base Nightclub in the city's Cowgate last July, causing the man to fall to the ground and hurt himself. McGegor had denied the charge and had claimed self-defence.
The victim failed to appear at court today and that, combined with the fact that McGregor's solicitor hadn't been told by the Crown that McGregor had already claimed to the procurator fiscal that the same man had assaulted him before the incident, led to the sheriff accepting a plea of not guilty.
This is good news for both McGregor and the club and hopefully he can get back to recovering from the horrible knee injury he suffered in August - with an outside chance he could be back before the split.
