McGregor's season over

Last updated : 09 August 2011 By Stuart Gillespie

As so often happens in these situations, McGregor's injury didn't seem to be caused by a challenge but by the way his foot went into the ground. There were fears that it was a bad one after Saturday's game and those have now been confirmed by gaffer Danny Lennon.

The news is a bitter blow to both the player and the club. After signing from Cowdenbeath last year, McGregor had a sensational first year in the SPL. He won many player of the year awards and impressed with his strength and forward runs. His contract is up at the end of the season and it'll be interesting to see what happens on that one.

Saints now have just three fit centre halfs - Lee Mair, Marc McAusland and the inexperienced Dominic Kennedy. It is not an ideal situation to be in, but rumours tonight suggest we're well on the way to bringing in another defender.
